DINOSAVRVS REX recording journal Pt I

Hello internet!

The great DINOSAVRVS REX experiment has not failed, we've simply been working very hard on writing extraordinary songs for people to enjoy and as such the promotional end of things is quickly relegated to the 'oh-that-old-doss-we-needn't-really-bother-with-it-do-we?' file in a back cabinet of our garden shed-cum-private Venetian archive and gallery. You know, the one next to the wheelie bin where things not quite ready for the wheelie bin but in about a month's time you'll have got over whatever hang-ups you had and before you know it it's out on a rubbish tip where an up-and-coming Xenomania girl group are having an impromptu croquet match / video shoot. Whew that was a long sentence!! Are you still there!!??

Ah! As Kurt Weill once said, 'and the autumn weather turns the leaves a-flame / And I haven't got time for the waiting game'.

So, why bother revisiting the blog? Well we're sorting out our 'official' website which will have loads of exciting things like DINOSAVRVS REX the sitcom, DINOSAVRS REX hooj choons, DINOSAVRVS REX the minibar, DINOSAVRS REX the military issue tunnel boarer, DINOSAVRVS REX the computer game, and even a fantasy football / popstar / charts league. We're still working on the last one but it's a brilliant idea that's not completely revealed itself to us in its fulness yet. All I know is that there'll be a pay-off line involving Slaven Bilic. In the meantime, why not have a go at a recording journal?

We've decided to release a couple of songs and a comic for the time being because we've not got Flash (still!!). Why comics? Because we can print them and they can easily double for press kits (see Rex the Dog) which people find more interesting to read because although they're shoddily drawn are colourful and eye-catching!! This is what our marketing student who we've kidnapped from Mudchester University has told us to do, so it must be gospel truth then!!!

Right, recording journal! We were going to do three songs: 'Love don't turn away', 'Your love (Where did you go?)' and 'Curious love' but 'Curious love' has been axed because it's not 'in our key', ie we're shite singers and couldn't be arsed to transpose it. Maybe we can give it to a warbling popstar once we're famous and have got connections like the bloody M6!!!!!!!

Anyways, 'Love don't turn away' is great cos all of us have got a singing bit except for Anvardicus and Lazlo who've got middle 8 talky bits. You've got to have a middle 8 talky bit if you want a hit record, true fact. It's a bit slow, but it's not a ballad and it's got a bit of a strut to it so you think it's faster than it is. It's 3'30" long, perfect pop single length, has a real belter of a chorus, the verse we stole from the Who's 'Baba O'Reilly', see also Roxette's 'How do you do!', and there are loads of samples from Blondie, Yelle, U2 (come back 'ere now), the KLF, Gina G (Hurrah!) and bloody hell there's several more but can't remember them at the moment!! OH AND CROWD NOISE!!! That said, even though there's loads of sample the tune is completely 100 per cent original and amazing and you'll love it!

'Your love (Where did you go?)' is faster and is ALL ABOUT THE BASSLINE but I'm out of breath from talking about 'Love don't turn away' so sorry 'Your love (Where did you go?)' but we'll talk how great you are later!!!!

Goodbye internet!
